Did COVID-19 ruin your family’s summer plans? We have just the answer for you! The Tidewater Council, Boy Scouts of America would like to invite you to enjoy Summer Camping at Pipsico Scout Reservation!
Beginning July 1st – September 7th, you can enjoy the awesomeness that is Pipsico Scout Reservation this summer!
Guests may enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, climbing, shooting sports, campfires, and fishing along the beach or at our lake – just to name a few fun family outdoor activities. With camping options ranging from personal tent campsite camping to renting a cabin, we have the outdoor adventure option for you!
Boating at the James River Waterfront (Available Friday – Sunday):Guests may enjoy boating (kayaking and canoeing) at our James River waterfront or fishing from along the beach or at our fully stocked lake. All arrangements for use of boating equipment must be requested by 7 pm the day prior to intended use, by purchasing a rental ticket for $5 in our Trading Post onsite. At your requested time, a member of the staff will unlock these facilities for you and be glad to assist you with any equipment you may need. Everyone, no matter of age, must wear a lifejacket (PFD) at all times while boating. Once given a lifejacket, it will remain in your care for the duration of your stay. Swimming and boating will be allowed from 9 am-noon and 1 pm– 4 pm upon request. Regulations require us to have a lifeguard on duty at all times while boating. If you would like to bring your own self propelled boat, you are welcome to do so, please just coordinate with the staff as to when you’ll be using our riverfront.
Pool (Open Friday – Sunday, other times by special request):Beginning the weekend of July 31st and at no extra charge, guests may enjoy, relax, or get exercise in our newly renovated 25 meter swimming pool! Specific times of operations will be published and distributed upon your arrival, however please contact our staff and we will strive to accommodate your requests (including nighttime and early morning swims) during your stay.
Sports & Other Activities: With over 10 acres of fields within the heart of Camp Lions, you and your family can enjoy numerous games and outdoor activities that are only limited by your imagination! Pipsico is unable to provide any recreational equipment, but our gaga ball pit, frisbee golf course, and volleyball court are available for use, so feel free to bring your own equipment and utilize those spaces! Additionally, you and your group can enjoy miles of nature hikes on our 916 acre property, campfires, bird watching, fossil collection, and mountain biking!
Shooting Sports (Open Saturday by appointment & other times by special request): Advanced reservations are required for these experiences. The ranges will be operated and supervised by NRA Certified Instructors. A minimum of 48 hours of notice must be given by emailing Camping@PipsicoBSA.com. Tickets for this experience will be sold/ processed through the Trading Post for .22 Rifle, Shotgun Trap, or Archery.
